Picking up Morgan

My friend, Carl, was kind enough to take me up to the airport in San Francisco on Saturday, to pick up Morgan. I had hoped to spend some time in the city with her, but that didn't work out like I'd hoped. That's alright though. I had fun talking to Carl on the way up to the city. We parked and took a walk along Fisherman's Wharf, ate fresh crab, although I wasn't particularly hungry, and drove back and forth across the Bay Bridge. Then we picked up Morgan. She fell asleep on the way back down to Monterey, and, although I didn't sleep, I was pretty quiet. Carl is such a good guy!

Having Morgan back has been slightly less idyllic than I had hoped for. She's been moody and difficult, contrary and whiny. Or was, yesterday, anyway. Then we had a big long talk, and things seem to be going somewhat better today. She was kind and respectful, and, although she didn't do her chores today, it hasn't been a terrible day. She asked permission, and then went shopping with her best friend, and now, her friend is going to spend the night. They go back to school on Wednesday.

I still love the place I work, although I am a bit less ecstatic over my particular job assignment right now. I want to stay working there, but I am going to look into other options. The main reason for that is that the project I am working on right now is going to end on April 1, 2008. My contract runs out at the end of May. If they give me less than a 13-month contract, I don't get health insurance, but then they'd have to have a job for me to do after the 11-month term of the project is over. So, I am looking into the current calls for candidates, and a friend who might be leaving his or her position in the next couple of months, or at least projecting doing so, is going to suggest me as a replacement for his or her position. That would be cool.

On a lighter note, my boss told me today that the quality and speed of our project are the best he's been involved with, and are as good as they are, thanks to me. That made me feel really good.

Stay tuned for more news as it arises... Let's hope for the best, in any event!!

Bisous, tout le monde!
