Ma Vie d'Autrefois, Ou est-ce Encore la Même ?

Fabrice has spent twenty years as a French federal police officer. He got a green card (took 6 weeks, thank you very much), and now we're in the US. He can't be a cop here without getting citizenship and can't get citizenship before having spent a few years here. So he's working as a security guard.

With the economy, this has been exceedingly difficult, especially since I left me federal job in CA when we got married and I lived in France for two years. The difficulties almost cost our marriage. But you know what they say about almost!!

So, to speed up the naturalization process, be a cop here, and serve the country that gave him such opportunity (and I am NOT being facetious), Fabrice is trying to join the Army. And he's not too old. He had to show that he does not have high cholesterol (his is 113), etc., and is now sitting in CA, working security at a private grad school there (where I happened to go to school, twice), and waiting his medical visit with the Army doctors.

If he gets into the Army, after training, he will ask to be stationed in Germany, where not too many people want to go. That way he will be closer to his parents, who are starting to wear down, an elderly aunt, and his two daughters.

If he does not get into the Army, then we will try Arizona where we both love it, for a few months--it's so much cheaper than CA!!

And, if neither the Army nor Arizona works out, then we will have no choice but to head back to France. Fabrice is on leave of absence from his job there, and that runs out on January 1, so at least one of us would have a decent paying job....

Our furniture and belongings are in storage in France, pending our final locale.

The nomadic life is fun for a couple of whiles, but definitely wears thin after that!!
