Qu'est-ce que l'on peut dire?

We went to have supper with my brother and sister-in-law and their kids tonight.

Supper was great.

My sister-in-law has been rather ill for a couple of months now.

Last night, she and her brother, who is staying with her as he has terminal cancer, were called to the hospital, where their mother had gone for surgery. The surgery had been too much for her; her body simply couldn’t take it. They arrived about ten minutes too late. She was already gone.

They hadn’t told us until we got there tonight. I guess surrounding yourself with people who care might be better than isolating yourself in your own suffering in times like these. I don’t know, though. I don’t know much of anything, it seems!

Nous sommes allés manger chez Denis, Isabelle et les enfants ce soir.

Le couscous était superbe.

Ma belle-sœur est malade depuis environ deux mois maintenant.

Hier soir, on l’a appelé, ainsi que son frère qui vit chez eux puisqu’il est seul et atteint d’un cancer en phase terminal. C’était l’hôpital où leur mère s’était fait opérer. Elle n’a pas supporté l’opération. Ils y sont arrivés environs dix minutes trop tard. Elle était déjà partie.

Ils ne nous avaient rien dit avant qu’on y arrive ce soir. Peut-être qu’il vaut mieux se faire entourer de gens qui nous aiment au lieu de s’isoler dans sa propre peine dans ces cas-là. Je ne sais pas, pourtant. Je ne sais pas grande chose, il me semble !
