Azt hittem ~ Translated by Julie Kertesz
My good friend, Julie, whose marvelous blog in French can be found here, translated my poem, I was wrong, into Hungarian. I am going to take a stab at translating it into French this morning. I will publish my results.
Here it is in Hungarian:
Here it is in Hungarian:
Azt hittem.
Azt hittem rosz vagyok.
Azt hittem buta.
Azt hittem csunya,
Ugy làttem magam,
Szivemben, lelkemben.
Ugy gondoltam tehetettlen vagyok.
Ugy gondoltam egyedül nem tudok;
Különösen
Nem
Egyedül.
Azt hittem nem sikerül nekem.
El hittem gonosz vagyok.
Azt gondoltam soha
Soha többé
Nem tetszem se magamnak
Sem màsnak.
Azt hittem elvesztettem
Soha nem fogok nyerni,
Azt hittem vesztettem
Még mielött
megkezdödött volna.
Sok mindent elhittem.
Sok mindent hittem, tudjàtok meg.
Sok mindenbe hittem
De…
Nem volt igaz.

waw, I did not think you'll publish it!
and it is a free translation, I'll have to translate it to you in english (there is a humorist who did this a lot of times with a Heine poem)
but I've sticken to what the poem said, what I felt reading it (it is a very long time I did not wrote or translate in hungarian, my mother language)
