Toto, We're Back in Kansas Again
On my way...

I'm in Kansas.
Yes, really, Kansas.
I am on a business trip to Kansas.
I haven't been to this state since 1989 or 1990. That was a long time ago. Not oonly is it now a different world, but also, I am a different me.

I am staying in what might generously be described as a shabby hotel in Topeka. It's clean and all, but modest.

I will be staying here tonight and tomorrow, and then going up to Kansas City on Sunday so as to catch my early morning plane on Monday. And then I'll be homeward bound. I long to be homeward bound.
That said, it's kinda pretty here. The air is clear. The land is flat. The temperatures are not yet unbearably hot, and there is not yet so much humidity in the air that being outside becomes tantamount to breathing through a hot wet sponge.
The people are very friendly.

Tomorrow I have to go from here in Topeka to Manhattan. Sunday, too. Then I head to Kansas City for the evening, and then, home.
The pictures illustrating this post comprise a series of shots I took out the windows of the Monterey and Phoenix airports, and the plane between Monterey and Phoenix. I didn't take any more after that. I was too tired.

Pictures I actually take IN Kansas will be posted tomorrow!
Goodnight to all of you, my friends, and to all the ships at sea.....
